Naot Farm was established in 2003 in Ramat Hanegev, on road 40, in the outskirts of Sde Boker. An old dream of ours – Lea and Gadi Nahimov – that came to life with hard work and great pleasure. Within a short while, a quiet, welcoming corner was formed which looked like it was always here
A Tour of Naot Farm
We hold paid group tours in the Farm with scheduling in advance. The tour is an hour – hour and a half long.
We start by seeing the farm from a lookout, continue in the pen and conclude in the cheese shop.
The tour includes an explanation on the Bodedim Farm project in Ramat Hanegev.
The first half of the tour is mainly a conversation that takes place around a large table, in which we explain what is the BODEDIM’s settlement in the Negev in general, and our founding story in particular. We discuss topics like the relationship between members of the farm and the Bedouin neighbors; what to do with child education when you are far away from educational institutions and friends without a TV and a close shopping mall; some of the experiences from the long road that we have travelled through the corridors of bureaucracy; and the discussion digresses to questions and fields that interest those sitting at the table.
In the second half of the tour, we enter the farm to take a peek at the pen.
We will go through the Yunkia (where goat kids are housed) to see how the goats grow until they become proud mothers that then start to produce milk. We will go through the milking institute where we will receive an explanation on how milk comes from the teat and its road to the refrigeration tank (between 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM we can even observe the milking itself).
We will hear about the process of making the different cheeses and close the tour with a tasting of goat cheeses made by the farm.
Tours are held in Hebrew, English and Spanish.
